That first 'wow' impression was a real hook, though. It looked like something I could expect to find in the corner arcade and I loved that.ĭoesn't hurt any that they play really great, too. All the screws, rivets and wires that it would take to really make the game were in there - nevermind that they don't actually need any of it. I first found the series with timeshock, and I remember being completely amazed at how 'real' they modeled the game. These detail renders are exactly what I first loved about Pro-Pinball. If all those people could play a demo of a Pro Pinball game I'm sure they'd be all over this. I'm surprised more people don't fondly remember the Pro Pinball games and I'm surprised how many people must've bought the previous Farsight releases. If it gets good reviews and word gets out that a new table is in the pipeline, a rebooted Kickstarter could do very well. I think with another promotional push, a slightly more attainable new Kickstarter of $200k might be achievable.Īnother way would be to just go ahead and remake Timeshock for PC and perhaps iOS and release it hopefully proving what an amazing game it is. I think that a lot of people have been alerted to this Kickstarter in the last few weeks but aren't botheriing to pledge because it seems destined to fail. I've actually faintly hoping that one day Farsight will work with Silverball and recreate all their existing licenses using the new Pro Pinball engine. Either that or Farsight just know how to gain exposure. I assume the Farsight Gottlieb and Williams releases have built up a fairly large fanbase. I'm subscribed to Facebook updates for both and the average number of 'Likes' and comments for any posts from Farsight/Pinball Arcade is MUCH higher than the handful of replies to Silverball Studio's status updates. Because there hasn't been a Pro Pinball release for so long, it doesn't mean anything to a lot of current gamers. It's obvious the word hasn't got out there the same way that Farsight Studios managed with The Pinball Arcade. In then end if we can get a really good pinball table into an iPad app or an Android app, and more people play it, then maybe they will start looking for real pinball games to play. Please make a pledge and spread the word. I know that $400k is a lot of money but if you have played these games, you know that as much (if not more) work went into making them as any real pinball machine and this Kickstarter include a new Pat Lawlor design. It would really be a shame for this to fall through. The Pro Pinball series are the best pinball simulations ever made. Do you really get $100 of entertainment out your donation that you can basically get for free if you want? Of course not! You donate so that your kids can continue to watch Sesame Street, your wife can watch Masterpiece Theater and you can watch Mystery, This Old House or Doctor Who way back when. In return, they are giving you premiums as thanks, including various versions of the games and other things depending on your level of support. You are giving them money so that they can make/upgrade the games for you to enjoy. Something that is being missed here by the people complaining about what you get for $50 is that this is basically a pledge drive. Paid somewhere between $35 and $45 for it back then. I think I bought Timeshock! at Best Buy the day it came out. I really hope that this project is a success.
